#1 Most Common Question

“Where should I mount my transducer?” This is the #1 question we get from customers. Its really pretty easy – you want to find a spot that has smooth water flow under the transom. Ideally you would place it as far away from other transducers as possible, and take care to avoid putting it by kicker motors, trim tabs or other things that make for turbulent water. The Fish Hawk probe sends a 70 KHz signal that doesn’t interfere with most fish finders. Some dual-beam fish finders use a 200 KHz and 50KHz or 83 KHz signal which can interfere if mounted right next to the Fish Hawk transducer. Either separate the two transducers or if you can’t do that, the worst case scenario is to just shut of the 50 KHz signal which is easy to do in the fish finder’s menu. These cases are the exception rather than the rule, and as I tell people, I’ve never run into a boat you couldn’t use a Fish Hawk on!
